Here in St Malachy’s, internet safety is very important for our pupils, staff, parents and the wider community. On Safer Internet Day 2024, the whole school took part in SPHE lessons for each class level, these included the importance of being safe online, our digital footprint, ensuring you do not share any personal information and always knowing the people that we are playing with when online. The boys also received a ‘Safer Internet Day’ band to show their participation in the initiative. A great source of information for school and parents is www.webwise.ie, we would encourage parents to have a chat about internet safety over the coming days. If anyone should have any problems online with unwanted friend requests or cyberbulling they should follow the 3 steps of STOP, BLOCK and TELL. If it continues to be a problem, an adult should be informed.
